In 2006, Niime Tamaki started her own brand Tamaki Niime with the intention of exploring new, modern interpretations of a traditional cotton weaving technique called Banshu-ori-a. This technique involves fabric undergoing one continuous process from yarn cultivation to the dying  process and is a technique which has been used since the 1800s.
