Long-time family & friend of FABRIC, freelance creative strategist, and content creator - we sat down with FABRIC brand ambassador, Laura Hadlow, to talk about her favourite brands, wardrobe essentials, and what inspires her to get dressed everyday.

Laura wears the Anine Bing Janet Jacket and Vanessa Skirt.

Q. Laura! You and your family have a long-standing relationship with FABRIC! What are some of your earliest and fondest memories with us?

A. Yes! My mum has been shopping at FABRIC since I can remember and my sisters worked there part-time during University.

I still remember day trips into the city with Mum when I was about 13 and popping into the High Street store where I would watch her try on 20 pairs of jeans while I would cross my fingers with the hopes I might be lucky enough to leave with a Comme des Garçons x PLAY t-shirt.

Laura wears the Samsøe Samsøe Eleanor Shirt and Citizens of Humanity Ayla Baggy Cuffed Crop.

Q. Denim is on high rotation in your daily outfits. What do you look for when buying denim and what are your go to brands?

A. Honestly, no item of clothing makes me feel more confident than wearing a good pair of jeans! Whether it's the perfect amount of slouch, flare, length or shade.

My go-to brands are AGOLDE, Anine Bing, Levi's & Citizens of Humanity - currently obsessing over the Ayla Baggy Cuffed Crop

Q. Aside from denim, what are the top five pieces everyone should have in their wardrobe?

A. It's all about investing in good quality wardrobe essentials that can be styled in different ways trans-seasonally! I feel this question is always answered with the same fundamental pieces i.e. good denim, black blazer, suit trousers, trench coat & a black and white t-shirt.

Apart from those, I constantly find myself reaching for a black mini skirt, classic tweed jacket, silk blouse, a sweatshirt/hoodie and a beautiful investment coat. You can shop my favourites here

Laura wears the Anine Bing Miles Sweatshirt and Sunspel Drawstring Wide Leg Trousers.

Q. What are some of your favourite brands at FABRIC and why?

A. I love that FABRIC is always ahead of the game of introducing NZ to off-shore brands.

My favourites at the moment are Le Monde Béryl for the best mary-janes, Toteme for trans-seasonal investment pieces (that you will wear for years to come!), Sunspel and Comme des Garçons x PLAY for good quality basics, and of course Anine Bing and Citizen's of Humanity. I have also found myself being drawn to Missoma Jewellery and always receive compliments on my pieces!

Laura wears (left) the Canada Goose Black Label Freestyle Vest, Anine Bing Chrissy Shirt, and (right) Comme des Garçons N065 White Heart Cardigan.

Q. Easter weekend is coming up! Do you have any plans, and if so, what will you be packing for your trip?

A. I was going to be heading up north but have decided that it has been such a hectic year so far, so William and I are staying around Auckland for the weekend to relax... and maybe indulge in a spot of shopping! I have my eye on the new Anine Bing and Samsøe Samsøe arrivals.

But this weekend, you will probably catch me in an oversized Anine Bing sweatshirt, a Comme des Garçons x PLAY cardi, baggy denim and maybe a Canada Goose puffer vest for the cooler mornings!
